If you’ve spent any time on YouTube searching for awesome bowhunting missions, chances are you've come across Kristian Gerathy (Following a Broken Compass). Known for his solo hunts, honest storytelling, and knack for capturing the highs and lows of the backcountry, Kristian’s content has built up a loyal following.
He’s a bowhunter, spearfisher, gold prospector, and conservationist: someone who’s always outside chasing wild experiences. When he’s not on an adventure, Kristian works as an environmental officer, keeping a close eye on water quality at a gold mine. That blend of passion and profession gives him a unique perspective on the land.
We recently teamed up with Kristian and sent him a few pieces from our latest summer drop. He took them straight into the thick of it on a proper mission—no better testing ground than that.
Kristian's been running the original Eclipse Vantage Hoodie for years, so we were especially keen to get his thoughts on the new and improved Eclipse Hoodie V2.
"The hood has a more tapered fit, which expands my field of vision to 180 degrees—something I didn’t think could be improved without the hood feeling tighter, but they’ve managed it. The built-in face veil has also been updated. It’s now semi-removable, allowing me to slip it over my head and leave it comfortably resting behind my neck. This is a fantastic change for breathability during morning walks or the slog home, as it allows for better airflow without feeling tight around the neck."
When you're out bush for days at a time, it’s those small tweaks that make a massive difference. And according to Kristian, the V2 nailed the brief.
We also got an exclusive look at what Kristian takes into the bush when it’s time to get serious. From bowhunting stags to staying dry and comfortable on the move, here’s what makes the cut:
Each item has earned its place through experience: Kristian doesn’t carry anything he doesn’t use. From pre-dawn starts to navigating dense bush and unpredictable weather, he’s built a kit that goes the distance.
We’re stoked to have connected with Kristian and to see our gear put through its paces in some serious terrain. His hunts are raw, real, and relatable: exactly the kind of stories we love to share.
